Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) Infographics about youth unemployment in Europe
The infografics from the Institute of International and European Affairs visually describes the youth unemployment crisis in Europe.
For instance, “Mind the gap” describes that in 2007, before the economic crisis began, youth unemployment across the EU was at a comparatively low level with the rate at 12% or under in 11 Member States.
As the infographic shows, youth unemployment rates are now soaring across Europe and Greece, Spain and Croatia are experiencing particularly high levels. Of potentially greater concern is the high NEET (not in education, employment or training) rate level. These combined trends present the possibility of a ‘lost generation’ in Europe with many young citizens struggling to develop necessary skills and experience.
