Education for Democratic citizenship in Erasmus+ School Exchange Partnerships

The National Agency is inviting interested applicants to apply for a Transnational Cooperation Activity (TCA) seminar entitled “Education for Democratic citizenship in Erasmus+ School Exchange Partnerships” which will be held in Freiburg, Germany between 18-20 October 2018 (with 21 October being a travelling day).

Themes and Goals: The contact seminar is mainly targeted at school leaders and teachers of pupils aged between 6 and 16, interested in the theme of the seminar and committed to develop Erasmus+ School Exchange Partnerships. It offers participants the opportunity to work together on topics of mutual interest with the intent to develop project ideas for Erasmus+ school exchange partnerships. Participants will have the opportunity to start preparing their project application together. In spite of the fact that all relevant topics are welcomed for discussion, focus will be placed on the theme of “Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC)”. As per the Council of Europe Charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education, “education for democratic citizenship means education, training, awareness-raising, information, practices and activities which aim […] to empower learners to exercise and defend their democratic rights and responsibilities in society, to value diversity and to play an active part in democratic life […].” This theme will be discussed in detail and best practices examples of how to work on this topic during an Erasmus+ school exchange partnership will be presented.

Expected results: Participants will develop project ideas and start preparing their project application during the contact seminar.

Those interested are requested to fill and send the Application Form and Profilesheet to Janelle Camilleri (Janelle.camilleri@gov.mt) by no later than COB of 15 June 2018.
